How do I change the names of x and y-axis values on MS Excel 2007?

Whenever I make my pie and line charts in MS Excel '07, it automatically assigns automatic values of like ';1, 2, and 3'; to the charts. My question is, how can I change the assigned values so that they says ';Income, Cost, and Net Cash Flow';, instead of ';1,2,3';? How do I change the names of x and y-axis values on MS Excel 2007?
The easiest way is usually to put the text labels you want in the column just left of the values and select the labels along with your values when you create the chart. In some cases that could mean using formula to duplicate you values where you can add the labels.

If you want numeric labels, but not in numeric order from one, start by making a chart that includes a left column with labels that are text (e.g. a, b, c, etc or even all a's.) Then, after you have created the chart, go back to the data table and change label column to contain the numeric values you want.

If the labels exist or can more conveniently be placed somewhere else on the worksheet you can create the chart allowing the default label assignment and select Chart Tools %26gt; Design %26gt;Select Data %26gt; Edit [under the Horizontal (Category) Axis Labels], and select the cells containing the labels. You can even select them one at a time, if necessary, by holding down the Ctrl key during the selection. How do I change the names of x and y-axis values on MS Excel 2007?
Glad to help. Thanks for the feedback.
