How do I do the change name procedure (after marriage) in Santa Clara County, CA?

After getting married, I didn't change my name and wanted to know how to do it now.

Also, my sister is about to be naturalized for her citizenship and wanted to know how too.

We're both living in Santa Clara county, CA. We asked the recorded clerk office and got the run-around so i'm still clueless.

Thanks all for your answers. How do I do the change name procedure (after marriage) in Santa Clara County, CA?
You need to go to the social security office and take your marriage certificate with you that is shows proof of your marriage. Post Office also has the forms, you might want to check them. You sister after her naturalization need to go to the social security office to have them change her status on record. During your sisters naturalization process they should ask her if she wants her name changed.

But to change her status from permenant resident to citizen she still needs to go to the social services office. Also right after her oath ceremony the Social Security officers are sitting out there to help her change her status. hope this helps.

First, you have to go to your social security office to change that, then you have to get a new drivers license all others generally, you can call to get it changed...you need to have your marriage certificate for all of the above. If your sister is establishing citizenship, when she goes through the proceedings, they are going to ask her what name she wants.
