Questions about birth certificate and name change?

I haven't picked up my baby's birth certificate yet but now i would like to change my child's name.

could the father pick up the birth certificate without my permission? (oh and hes not on it)

and how could i change name? and make sure everything else is changed like name on social security card, mail, at dr.s etc.?Questions about birth certificate and name change?
If the father is not on it he has to prove he has a legitimate reason for picking up the child's BC. Stating it is for DNA testing could allow him to get it.

You cannot change the name without going through court just as anyone else would have to do.

Contact your local court and request the information on having a name change. It costs like $75 and you have to appear in court. Take the documents and submit them to social security. After that notify all the doctors and stuff.Questions about birth certificate and name change?
He can get a copy of your child's BC if he's listed on it. And you also need his authorization( i think on the forms they make you notarize his signature) in order to change the baby's name.
all i can tell you is the father can not pick up if hes not on the birth certificate, i dont know about the name change, you can ask when you go pick up the birth certificate
Hi,

If you do decide you want to change your baby's name this can be done through applying for a Change of Name Deed online. This Deed Poll document will the allow you to get all your baby's documents updated to the new name you choose. The cost for a Deed Poll document for a child is 拢34 and can all be completed online with no need for you to visit a solicitor. The Deed Poll will be accepted by all UK Government organisations and allow you to amend all your baby's records.

This website maybe useful to you and also allows you to apply for the Change of Name Deed online.
