I put $ in an account then moved from that town. 25yrs later the bank has changed names How to find account?

I know the bank still exists I just don not know what the name of the bank is or who would be holding that account. Does any one know how to get me started looking?I put $ in an account then moved from that town. 25yrs later the bank has changed names How to find account?
Banks cannot continue to hold inactive accounts. They must be closed and if there is any money left, it goes to the state. You will have to see if that particular state has a website where you can look up holdings. You will also have to check with your state to see which department handles these matters -- start with Consumer Protection, as they should know who to contact. The length of time a state holds ';unclaimed funds'; varies by state. Usually after a period of time they revert to the state treasury.

How could you suddenly be looking for these funds after 25 years? That is an inordinately long time, and it may be questioned. You will certainly have to prove that you are the rightful owner, and not an identity thief, etc.I put $ in an account then moved from that town. 25yrs later the bank has changed names How to find account?
go to the bank, and tell them the problem, they can then tell you if you can get your money back, and the process of how to get the money back
u need to get in contact with the state's (where the acct was located) abandoned property dept. if u call BofA, u can just ask for the number.
